Randy MC is an artist that epitomizes the very essence of the modern era. He is a multitalented Pianist-Singer-Songwriter, Music Director, Arranger, and Teacher of Western Art and Contemporary Commercial Music. Born in Taiwan and raised in SoCal, he spent 7 years in VA and a whole season in 2019 exploring the South for musical inspiration before returning to SoCal to finalize the production of his upcoming extended play. Inherently, much of America’s diverse Southern cultures influence Randy’s compositional and playing style. Randy MC makes music driven by his desire to motivate, inspire, comfort, and spread love and joy to all those that hear it. He believes we all have voices, and we should use it to better the world.

Randy has been performing, producing, music directing, teaching, and coaching other artists all over CA, WV, and the DMV (DC, MD, & VA) for over a decade. He offers online & in-home music lessons and coaching for artists at all levels. He has a knack for arranging and orchestrating music scores. Randy is available for solo and collaborative performances, such as weddings and concerts, as well as piano tuning and restringing.

As an artist, he is making music that takes the listener on an emotional journey and pushes the limits of our imagination. It is music that is relatable to people and infused with positive energy to allow for an immersive and engaging experience.

His overarching ambition is to push the envelope with his music and to create something different, unique, and memorable. Randy’s musical role models are Oscar Peterson, Jacob Collier and Andre Previn. He learned under the close supervision of Ieva Jokubaviciute, Kyle Pfortmiller, Inessa Niks and Donna Green to mention just a few.

Randy MC showed great promise in performing arts since the ripe age of 3 years old on the piano, and fermented his musical passion by studying flute, piccolo, organ, and orchestral conducting. He directed and orchestrated his first musical production—Robinhood—at 16 and has taken up various community theatre roles for the past decade. Most notably, he was the Music Director in several iconic musicals, including Thoroughly Modern Millie and The Wedding Singer. He also played in the cover band Souled Out, arguably the best funk/Motown/dance bands in the Shenandoah Valley and a major influence in his original music. His repertoire also includes performances on some of the biggest stages the world has to offer. Most recently, as a classical singer, he made his opera debut in the summer of 2019 as Monastatos in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Bethesda Summer Music Festival and subsequently made his Kennedy Center concert debut.

Randy MC has 6 singles in his emerging Alt-Pop catalog. His songs are well-thought-out and carry nuances of Jazz. His smooth vocals and refreshing writing style are innovative and show a lot of fearless creativity. He will be releasing his debut EP dubbed “#StartAsianLove” which will showcase more of his witty lyricism in a uniquely constructed piece of musical artistry. His Alt-Pop sound exhibits his versatility and prowess, as well as the influence of other genres. This is the music that will push the boundaries of our perception, inspire and drive us to introspective conversations.
Randy is a dog lover. In his spare time, he loves reading, comedy, swimming and video games.

He has garnered a plethora of awards in the academic space, community service, and in the music industry. These awards include: Best Male Vocalist at the Apollo Civic Theater Annual Show in 2019; Annual placements in Musical Theater & Classical Categories from 2016 to 2019 at NATS Mid-Atlantic Regionals and Virginia NATS; Dean List, 6 semesters from James Wood Middle School; Nationals semifinalist, National Association of Teachers for Singing from 2015 to 2019; R.C. Evans Piano Competition from Shenandoah Conservatory in 2016 & 2019. He is also a lifetime member of the Apollo Civic Theater, International Distinguished Scholar and the National Society for High School Scholar. Throughout his life, his affinity to music is embellished and imprinted across several genres. This varied spectrum of influence has led to the development of Randy as a diverse artist who is multifaceted. Randy is on his way to becoming a worldwide phenomenon as a musician that will continue to change the status quo of the music industry.
